We recorded an interview with Professor Irja Lutsar - microbiologist and virologist from Estonia, Professor of Medical Microbiology and Virology at the University of Tartu. She is currently working on the coronavirus research issue. The professor spoke about the organic nature of the virus and the fight against it in Estonia.
"I have seen many articles and news about the synthetic generation of COVID-19 in the laboratory. But based on my personal experience and my colleagues' opinions, COVID-19 is a natural virus," she said.
Irja Lutsar discussed possible solutions for the pandemic in Estonia with the Prime Minister.
"There is no one in the world who knows exactly how to fight a pandemic because this virus is new for everyone," she said. "In Estonia, we used quarantine in the early stages of the virus. Although some restaurants, shops, and kindergartens were opened during quarantine, social isolation worked in their favor as well.
Professor Lutsar also said that "If a person is infected with the virus, he or she will never catch it again, he or she will develop immunity to the virus".
"The antibodies will develop and people will only get infected once," she added.
