I am an Estonian class teacher in Põlva School. I have worked as a class teacher for 28 years. I am the representative for the class teachers within Põlva School as well as a member of The Estonian Association of Class Teachers.
I have been a member of The Estonian Association of Class Teachers since it was first created in 2011. Class teachers in Estonia found it necessary to have a body that would stand for their rights and act in their best interest.
It is extremely important to me that the young kids aged 7 to 11 will receive the best possible education and that they are able to do so in a safe environment surrounded by teachers who wholeheartedly love their job. Furthermore, I find it important that Estonian class teachers well-being and opportunities for self-education are guaranteed in Estonian education system. Therefore, inspired by my fellow class teachers, I have been a member of the National Class Teachers Union since the beginning and am also currently serving on it’s board.
I would love to take a part of the educational forum taking place in Washington, USA and furthermore expand my knowledge, gather ideas, and skills from teachers all over the world. All the experiences from the forum I would then like to share with Estonian Class Teachers and hopefully provide an even better education for the generations to come. On behalf of our Class Teachers Association I would like to share the Association’s works, observations, and ideas with other participants at the forum.
All the experience from the forum would be shared with all the members because our mission is to help Estonian class teachers better themselves and strive towards perfection in their profession. I believe that given a chance to be a part of the forum I can fulfill that mission and help better educational environment.
